Formulation Strategies For Improved Dermal & Oral Drug Delivery
Active pharmaceutical compounds (API) can only be taken up by the body if a sufficient amount of the API is available in dissolved state at the site of absorption. However, today, most of the newly developed small molecules that come from chemical synthesis possess extremely poor aqueous solubility and thus cannot be taken up by the body sufficiently. Therefore, innovative formulation principles that increase the solubility of such API are of high importance. The talk will provide an overview of novel formulation strategies that can help to overcome poor solubility. Special focus will be on simple but smart formulation strategies for oral and dermal drug delivery.
